An important milestone: On 28 June 2024, the construction and service company Goldbeck, including Werner Wöllstein, Mayor of Kirchberg, celebrated the pillar party for the new precast concrete plant in Kirchberg in Hunsrück.

Most sustainable precast concrete plant in Europe

"We are building the most modern and our most sustainable precast concrete plant in Europe. We are consistently implementing our production network strategy here: We are expanding local production capacities and utilising state-of-the-art concrete technology. The new site will shorten transport routes. This has a measurable impact on our carbon footprint," says Florian Laxander, Managing Director of GOLDBECK Produktions GmbH.

"Progress is now really tangible for everyone involved in the project," adds plant manager Marco Molitor. "We would like to use today's celebration to thank everyone involved in the project: our partners here in the region and our colleagues at Goldbeck."

250 new jobs

In the first expansion phase, Goldbeck is creating a total of around 250 new jobs in Kirchberg. "We are delighted with the first eleven colleagues that we have already welcomed to Goldbeck," says Marco Molitor. "Most of them come from the Hunsrück region. But we have also been able to attract employees from outside the region."

Latest digitalisation and automation standards

"Our aim is to shape the future of construction – and that also applies to our own value creation. In Kirchberg, we rely on the latest digitalisation and automation standards in order to be able to produce efficiently and sustainably," emphasises Florian Laxander. Physically strenuous and repetitive tasks are performed by machines. On a so-called circulation system, similar to an assembly line in car production, the precast concrete parts are produced on pallets that are guided through the various stations of the plant on a rail system.

Tenth precast concrete plant

The plant in Kirchberg is Goldbeck's tenth precast concrete plant. On an area of 25,000 square metres, Goldbeck will produce columns, ceilings, car park slabs and wall elements from 2025, which the company will then assemble with other system elements to create turnkey properties such as production and logistics halls as well as office, school and residential buildings. Trial operation of the plant will begin at the end of this year. The reinforcement for the concrete parts will also be produced at the plant. The location is important for Goldbeck in order to ensure sustainability in the supply of materials for construction sites: "With the decentralised positioning of our plants throughout Europe, we always produce close to the construction site and thus shorten our transport routes. With our plant in Kirchberg, we will supply the entire Rhine-Main region with system elements efficiently and economically," says Marco Molitor.
