As one of the few precast concrete element producers in Denmark, DS Elcobyg can now manufacture facade elements up to 16 meters in height, according to the supplier. The company in Hobro has invested in three new casting tables from Avermann Betonfertigteiltechnik GmbH & Co. KG in Germany and is now ready to cast elements for some of Denmark‘s largest industrial constructions.
Complete supplier of concrete
DS Elcobyg is a complete supplier of concrete solutions, where they design, manufacture, and deliver for all types of construction in Denmark. The company, with over 180 employees, has its headquarters in Hobro, including administration, sales department, design office, and production. Additionally, they have both design and production facilities in Genner, Southern Jutland. DS Elcobyg is part of DS Gruppen, owned by the German construction group Goldbeck.
Decision for high-quality Avermann tilting tables
Having worked on a long-term basis with Avermann and their local representative for the Scandinavian market, the company CPT A/S from Faaborg, the decision for the new upgrade of the production equipment has fallen in favour of the high-quality tables from Avermann.
A large product portfolio
DS Elcobyg offers a wide range of construction elements and solutions, such as facade panels, sandwich elements, concrete and rear wall structures, pressure walls, load-bearing concrete columns, columns, roof panels, TT-slabs, stairs, prestressed beams, and custom-made elements. The company‘s customer portfolio spans multiple segments, including warehouse and logistics construction, residential construction, multi-storey car parks, bridge construction, agricultural construction, sports facilities, and institutions, showcasing DS Elcobyg‘s ability to cover a broad spectrum of construction needs with their comprehensive product range.
Lean and sustainable
DS Elcobyg, driven by its affiliation with both DS Gruppen and Goldbeck, continually works on optimizing concrete production. Increasing demands for sustainable construction from customers have inspired DS Gruppen and especially Goldbeck, one of Europe‘s leading players in the development and implementation of green objectives. DS Gruppen, including DS Elcobyg, has intensified its focus on carbon footprint and exploring opportunities to think, procure, produce, build, and market with sustainable responsibility.
Strengthened production
Construction projects in Denmark are growing in scale, and to meet the increasing demands, DS Elcobyg has made significant investments. In the fall, the company upgraded its production in Hobro by investing in new, larger Avermann casting tables, providing the capacity to produce facade elements with an impressive height of up to 16 meters – a capability only a few Danish concrete element producers can achieve.
Production Manager Carsten Sørensen Kronborg explains, „DS Elcobyg not only supplies concrete internally to our group. Although our sister company, DS Flexhal, constitutes a significant part of our customer base, we supply them on equal terms with other general contractors. Our independent status means that we serve our own customers, and it is crucial for us to offer the products demanded in the market“.
The focus on production improvements includes an emphasis on lean processes, sustainability, and customer satisfaction. Carsten Sørensen Kronborg further elaborates, „The recent investment, specifically in the three new casting tables from Avermann, constitutes a significant expansion that optimizes our production. With the capacity to produce 6 pieces of 16-meter facade elements at the same time, we have truly strengthened our volume“.
„The need for extra tall facade elements increased specifically when DS Flexhal began the construction of the logistics building for Taulov Dryport A/S “Generics 3” in Taulov early in 2023. Since August 2023, DS Elcobyg has supplied facade elements of 14.3 meters for this project. Now, the new casting tables are used on another DS Flexhal project – the T. Hansen construction in Middelfart“, reveals Carsten Sørensen Kronborg.
Extended reach and flexibility
Considering the investment in the new casting tables, which has increased the capacity to cast facade elements up to 16 meters, Carsten Sørensen Kronborg states, „Before our investment, we could cast elements of 12 meters, so the extra 4 meters open up both new order possibilities and cater to the flexibility for both existing and new customers”. This significant expansion positions DS Elcobyg as an even stronger and more versatile player in the market, emphasizing the adaptability to meet customers‘ dynamic needs for concrete solutions.
Part of DS Gruppen
DS Elcobyg is part of DS Gruppen, an international construction and industrial group specialized in steel and concrete solutions for construction. DS Gruppen includes DS Elcobyg, DS Stålkonstruktion, which designs, manufactures, delivers, and installs steel structures, DS Stålprofil, which provides roof and facade solutions in thin sheet steel, and DS Flexhal, a turnkey contractor that designs and constructs some of Denmark‘s largest warehouse and logistics buildings, among other projects. DS Gruppen was established in 1969 by Svend Møller Hansen and was a family-owned company until 2022, when the group was sold to the German Goldbeck.
DS Group is based in Hobro, where most of the concrete and steel production takes place. With 900 employees and headquarters in Hobro, as well as branches in Aarhus, Albertslund, Genner, and internationally in Germany, Norway, Slovenia, and Poland, the four independent companies in DS Gruppen operate as strong entities in building and industrial construction.
Owned by Goldbeck
In 2022, DS Gruppen and its independent subsidiaries became part of Goldbeck, a family-owned company founded in 1969 with headquarters in Bielefeld, Germany. Goldbeck also includes the French construction group GSE and annually constructs around 500 properties throughout Europe with over 12,000 employees distributed across approximately 100 locations.
