Production expansion for GF reinforcement at the Halle site
On October 06, 2017, only after a construction period of ten months, Schöck inaugurated a new production hall at their site in Halle. By cutting the symbolic ribbon, the management team opened the new building featuring a height of 10 m with a floor space of 1,000 m² and is worth about € 2.1 million. A dosing system for the production of elastomeric bearings is being installed in the production hall. The bearings are part of the product Schöck Tronsole, which is used for impact sound insulation of staircases in multi-family houses.
The Schöck site in Halle an der Saale is located in the industrial area of Halle-Ost near Landsberg. It is one of six production sites of the Schöck Group and has been existing since 1994. Further investments amounting to € 30 million in total are intended to be made over the next years on the existing premises and in the course of the recently established joint venture with Fiberline Composites A/S, the long-term partner of Schöck headquartered in Middelfart, Denmark.
Further development of glass fiber reinforcement
"Halle is a very important, dynamically growing location. The next step in the technological development is already certain: In respect of the joint venture that we have established with Fiberline Composites A/S, we will build here a new production hall covering 7,000 m² and creating 50 new jobs in the next few years," says Dr.-Ing. Harald Braasch, Chief Technology Officer at Schöck AG. The purpose of the joint venture is the further development and production of glass fiber reinforcement used for various products of Schöck. The production of glass fiber reinforcement is scheduled to start in 2019.
The products made by Schöck make a contribution to the thermal insulation of buildings. "It is impossible to imagine a passive house with cantilevered balconies without Schöck and without the production at the Halle site. Here, we manufacture products and components which make Schöck an industry leader," Braasch states. The Halle site manufactures, among others, concrete thrust bearings with ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC), transferring the compressive forces from the bottom side of the balcony through the thermal insulation into the floor of the building and thus reducing imminent losses of heating energy owing to the thermal bridge to a minimum.
