Technical-Scientific Cement Congress 2011 of the VDZ in Düsseldorf

When the Association of German Cement Works (VDZ) and the Association of the German Cement Industry (VDZ) meet on 27 and 28 September 2011 for the Technical-Scientific Cement Congress, talks of the about 400 experts and top representatives from companies of the energy-intensive industrial sectors will, of course, also revolve around the effects of the energy turnaround that the German government and parliament has resolved.

Discussions will focus not only on the question of the necessary extension of the infrastructure, the perspectives of the future emission trade and the development of the electricity market. Another topic of the event is the current state and perspectives of innovative cement research as well as potentials of CO2 reduction in the context of global climate requirements. The radical conversion of our energy supply poses great challenges to politics, administration, companies and population, according to the organizer. The opportunities and danger to the competitive capacity of cement product. But the energy-intensive industrial production must not be lost sight of. A stable supply with baseload electricity is existential to the cement industry.

The organizers regard the high number of visitors and the strong interest of expert groups, among other things, also as great success for the internationally renowned research institute. The VDZ with its institute has in the meantime become a contact partner that is much in demand worldwide. Apart from its research activities in basic research and its application in day-to-day corporate activities – the institute, with its around 160 employees, provides a comprehensive range of services on all questions of cement and concrete production, with focus on consultation and certification.
