50-year company anniversary

The Probst Company

It was in 1961 when Ernst Probst founded a company for the production of grabbing and handling equipment and started working in a small workshop located in Erdmann­hausen (Germany). From his previous job as head of the mechanical maintenance department of a concrete factory, he had noticed already quite early that there was still a lot of work to be done in the field of building materials ­handling. There was a field where the own ideas could be realized as well as tested directly.

In 1964, the first serial product was brought on the market, the “Block Grab Polyp 64” for construction cranes. With a great variety of custom-made products and further standard products, such as the Block Loading Grab AHZ attachment for truck cranes, the upswing continued, the workshop soon became too small and the company moved to a larger production hall at Bahnhofstraße in Erdmannhausen. Later on the company moved from this site to the industrial area allowing increasing the workforce.
