Investment in new Betomat IV-500 mixing tower
Schwenk is a family-run business based in the Ulm region and one of the largest south German cement and concrete producers. The company is currently heavily investing in its future.
A new Liebherr Betomat IV-500 mixing tower has recently been installed at the Donautal production site operated by Schwenk. This state-of-the-art equipment puts the business in an outstanding position to economically produce a wide variety of concrete grades in the next decades. Schwenk placed particular emphasis on smart solutions to enhance energy efficiency and plant safety, to enable high-output production, and to provide a user-friendly work environment. The new unit makes it possible to produce the entire range of concrete recipes.
Liebherr twin-shaft and ring-pan mixer
The Liebherr Betomat IV-500 mixing tower has an output of 140 m³ per hour. Its design incorporates the existing building and a 500 m³ round silo (with eight chambers) resting on it. Its individual components, such as the combined cooling and heating system, have been generously arranged within the production building; they are within easy reach also when using additional equipment such as tools to install spare parts.
The mixing tower includes the new Liebherr twin-shaft mixer and the Liebherr ring-pan mixer to enable a flexible production schedule and an annual output of up to 60,000 m³ of state-of-the-art concrete recipes even at extreme temperatures when combined with the integrated cooling and heating system. Drive motors conform to efficiency class IE 3 and reflect the current state of the art, as does the keyless locking system for the mixer covers. Furthermore, the new installation includes a batching unit with downstream weighing belt to enable addition of special fibers. To reprocess residual concrete, a Liebherr LRS 908 recycling unit with an output of 22 m³ per hour was installed next to the Betomat system so that both truck mixers and concrete pumps can feed residual concrete into the recycling unit at ground level.
System equipped with additional LED lighting
The new system is equipped with an additional LED lighting system. Relevant workspaces are completely lit to provide perfect working conditions for servicing and maintenance, including cleaning inside the mixer. Also, mixer systems can be operated in cleaning mode, i.e. at reduced speed. In this mode, the operator uses a twin-action control to turn the mixer shafts into an appropriate cleaning position at a speed of just one revolution per minute (“creep” mode) while the cover is open.
