Next Big 5 construction fairs are on the horizon
The Egyptian construction sector offers German companies enormous export opportunities. BNC (Project Intelligence) estimates the current project market in Egypt at 335 billion dollars. The fair organizer from Dubai, dmg events – which has been mega-successful with the largest Arabian construction fair, the Big 5 in Dubai, for over 30 years now – also sees Cairo as a first-rate location for a construction fair. The Big 5 Construct Egypt fair will take place for the first time, from 18 to 21 September 2018, in the new Cairo International Convention & Exhibition Center.
Big 5 Egypt – with a gross exhibition space of 24,000 m², plus outdoor area – is planned to become the largest branch of the Big 5 series of dmg events. The organizer dmg events has already successfully launched branch fairs in Saudi Arabia and in East and North Africa. dmg events is strongly supported by the Egyptian government organizations and by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. The Egyptian Federation of Construction and Building Contractors (EFCBC), with 30,000 members, and the African Federation for Construction Contractors’ Associations (AFCCA), with 25,000 members in Africa, will likewise support and promote Big 5 Egypt with organized delegations.
The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, upon the initiative of WSM, the German trade association Steel and Metal Processing will sponsor a joint stand of German companies at the debut event of Big 5 Egypt. This will in particular have positive financial effects for the German participants, since government funding of this kind will reduce the exhibit fee by approximately one half. Integrated in government participation is a generously dimensioned business lounge with catering for the German exhibitors and their visitors at the fair. Participation, moreover, is simplified in terms of organization, since the German implementation company will be responsible for erecting the complete stand.
Big 5 Construct Egypt will comprise six special product sectors: Plant Machinery and Vehicles (PMV), MEP Services, Building Interiors & Finishes, Building Envelope & Special Construction, Construction Tools & Building Materials, and Construction Technology & Innovation. The fair will be accompanied by technical seminars, certified workshops and high-caliber technical conferences.
In addition to Egypt, Kenya is also an interesting market
Kenya, with a population of 51 million, is also an interesting market. The Kenyan economy, despite political tension, is supported by a strong demand for consumer goods and services, ongoing infrastructure projects and a positive global economy. Strong population growth fuels demand for new housing space. For German companies, demand from the growing middle and upper classes is also of special interest. For 2018, economic growth of around 5 % is forecast for Kenya.
The East African construction sector offers German companies enormous export opportunities. Big 5 Construct East Africa, which will take place from 07 to 09 November 2018 at the Kenyatta International Expo Centre in Kenya, will offer extensive opportunities to establish contact with African fair visitors from the construction industry.
In 2018, upon the initiative of the German trade association WSM, the German government will for the first time participate in Big 5 Construct East Africa in Kenya. The Federal Ministry for Economy and Energy will support German participation.
At the debut event in 2016, 220 companies exhibitors participated, 8 of them from Germany, and 9,800 professional visitors from 40 countries were registered.
Big 5 Construct East Africa will comprise five special product sectors: Building Materials & Tools, Building Interiors, HVAC R & MEP Services, Concrete & PMV, and Building Services. The fair will be accompanied by technical seminars, certified workshops and high-caliber technical conferences.
