Reminiscent of historical pavements
Historical surfacing paved, for example, with natural stone or clinker bricks are not infrequently encountered, especially in rural areas. Despite possibly required restoration measures, their character often means that they would be worth retaining. Chief problems with these pavements, however, is often the poor surface they provide for walking – and, primarily, their low loadbearing capacity.
