The sixth Concrete Show South East Asia a success again

Indonesias construction industry, one of the biggest throughout Asia, is expecting to see the fastest market growth until 2020, according to estimates of AECOM and BMI Research. The government is primarily investing in the infrastructure, with the road construction segment alone experiencing growth rates of roughly 13% from 2015 to 2024: about 581 billion Rupiah are budgeted for the 30 most important infrastructure projects. Heavy equipment supplied to the Indonesian construction industry even shows a growth rate of some 30 %, which also benefits other sectors.

These projects provide enormous opportunities for suppliers of modern construction materials, technologies and plant equipment; this was also reflected by the Concrete Show South East Asia which took place from September 19 to 21 in the Indonesian capital city of Jakarta. Since the launch in 2013, the trade show has meanwhile established itself as one of the most important events of the industry in Southeast Asia. Covering an overall area of approx. 10,000 m² on the premises of Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran, this time 200 exhibitors presented their latest products and technologies to over 6,000 visitors from more than 20 countries.

The meanwhile sixth edition of the concrete trade show was organized by PT. UBM Pameran Niaga Indonesia. Merebo Messe Marketing had organized the European as well as American pavilion for international companies, associations and trade publishers. The Construction Indonesia, Elenex Indonesia and Building Systems & Automation Indonesia 2018 trade shows were also incorporated this major event.
A large number of European exhibitors were represented including companies such as BFS, Brecon, Elematic, Eurobend, Frumecar, Kraft Curing, Liebherr, Masa, mbk, Precast Software, Progress Group, Ratec, Quadra, Rieckermann, Schlatter, Sommer, Vollert, Weckenmann or WKB – to name a few – complemented by many suppliers from Indonesia and China as well as other Asian countries. Along with machinery and equipment manufacturers, suppliers, associations/organizations and trade media, also local concrete manufacturers like Waskita Precast participated in the show.

Different statements of the exhibitors
So the statements of the participants were quite different accordingly. While several exhibitors expressed unanimously that precast concrete construction has not yet reached the significance it has in other markets, other protagonists, such as Jörg Reymann (General Manager of Ratec), Michael Raich (Sales Manager of mbk), Matthias Jonas (Industry Manager of Rieckermann), or Rudolf Buyna (Area Sales Manager of Masa) were more optimistic, referring to ongoing projects and/or specific contracts in Indonesia.

Three-day seminar program integrated in the trade show

A three-day seminar program including a wide range of presentations of renowned national and international speakers was also embedded in the actual trade show organized in cooperation with government departments, associations and other institutions. This was complemented by live demonstrations at the booths of some exhibitors, providing even better insight in their products and services.

The conference rooms which were arranged thematically, starting from the concrete room, to the block room, precast room and the prestressed room through to the rebar room, were very well accepted.

The Senior Event Manager of UBM, Niekke W. Budiman, was very pleased with the trade show too and referred already to the next Concrete Show South East Asia in Jakarta which will take place from September 18 and 21, 2019 – once again on the premises of Jakarta International Expo.
