Dear ladies and gentlemen,

This year’s edition of the BetonTage congress again welcomes you to Ulm in the first quarter to cover a wide range of topics from all industry segments. As Europe’s largest industry event featuring a second-to-none exhibition geared towards the relevant audience, we are the driving force behind innovations in building sustainably with concrete and precast elements. Rethinking sustainability means for us to consider environmental, but also economic and social aspects. Construction must remain affordable and fulfill its social function in society.

We have had and are facing extremely difficult years in the building construction sector, more specifically in the housing segment, because the reality created by numerous inappropriate decisions and changed, radically deteriorated conditions for construction is challenging society in its entirety. Uncertainty must give way to planning security, because housing is increasingly becoming a central social issue with considerable explosive potential. Serial and modular construction using precast components is a technology that has been evolving for decades. In this context, lightweight construction, which we put a strong focus on at this year’s congress, is a significant driver of innovation developing in many ways in the precast industry. Another key factor that drives us forward is digitalization, which is advancing rapidly in our industry.

We will also be holding the first German Infrastructure Day this year. In this field, too, we are making a sustainable contribution to climate resilience with our civil engineering product range. The newly introduced “Innovative System Components” format will demonstrate the potential of energy activation and the associated commercial benefits compared to conventional in-situ construction methods.

This year, we will again provide a platform to bring together the entire construction value chain, including architects, structural and civil engineering firms, precast producers, and construction contractors, but also the highly innovative supplier industry that will be featured more prominently than ever. Our aim is to highlight the opportunities that will determine the future of construction – let us rethink sustainability together at the 69th BetonTage congress!

Yours sincerely,

Friedrich Gebhart
