International Conference on Construction Materials Recycling
The 5th International Conference on Construction Materials Recycling (V.PRE = V International Conference Progress of Recycling in the Built Environment) takes place from 10 to 12 October 2023, for the first time in the Thuringian Weimar in Germany. This year’s organizer is the local Weimar Institute of Applied Construction Research Institute (IAB) under the umbrella of RILEM.
The conference series, held worldwide, was established in 2009 by RILEM-Komitee TC-217 “Progress of Recycling in the Built Environment.” The objective of the event is to discuss and disseminate the latest developments in characterization, processing and application of materials reclaimed from construction and demolition wastes in order to globally improve the resource efficiency in the construction industry.
Construction materials recycling is getting increasing attention – among other factors as a means to combat the increasing shortages of raw materials and release of CO2. At this 5th international Conference of Construction Materials Recycling, international experts will discuss urgent questions concerning recycling of construction and demolition wastes.
Topics are for instance treatment techniques for Construction and Demolition Waste including, innovative thermal processing routes, the application of recycled aggregates in mortar and concrete as well as the use of concrete rubble for the CO2 capture.
IAB organizes the prestigious event for the first time
The presentations will be supplemented by current case studies. The two-day program of lectures (10/11 Oct.) in the Leonardo Hotel Weimar comprises 24 specialist lectures as well as four keynote lectures, divided into six thematic sessions. The keynote speakers include Prof. Anette Müller (IAB Weimar, Germany), Prof. Takafumi Noguchi (University of Tokyo, Japan), Maciej Zajac (Global R&D HeidelbergCement AG Frankfurt, Germany) as well as Prof. Luc Courard (University of Liège, Belgium). An evening event (10 Oct.) and an excursion to a well-equipped stationary recycling plant in Weimar rounds off the conference program.
The organizing Weimar Institute of Applied Construction Research (IAB) draws on more than 30 years of experience in the development of new products, technologies and processes for construction materials recycling. The technical equipment of the Institute includes modern laboratory and experimental facilities, in particular for research into recycling of construction and demolition wastes.
In order to make the conference interesting also to practioners in and outside Germany, IAB offers simultaneous interpretation of the English language presentations. Interested companies from the recycling sector can still apply to participate in the exhibition area.
Bauverlag, with three of its trade magazines (BFT International, AT and recovery), is the official media partner of this 5th edition of the International Conference on Construction Materials Recycling from 10 to 12 October 2023 in Weimar, Germany.
