Afinitas, a leading global infrastructure equipment and services Company, is pleased to announce the promotion of Matt Childs to Vice President of Sales for the Americas for its HawkeyePedershaab-BFS equipment and automation sales organization. The change was effective October 1, 2019.
“Matt is a well-respected leader known throughout our industry,” said Brad Schmidgall, Afinitas CEO. “We are excited that he will be able to share his vast experience, engineering expertise and knack for solving tough challenges with our industry partners in all regions of the Americas.”
A fourth-generation family member of the concrete pipe industry, Childs began his career as a laborer making concrete pipe nearly three decades ago. Several years later he would put his knowledge of concrete manufacturing and engineering to work at the American Concrete Pipe Association (ACPA), where he served for 17 years, 12 as organization president. One of his proudest accomplishments at ACPA was increasing the technical marketing in the precast concrete pipe and box culvert industry in North America. Childs joined HawkeyePedershaab in 2017 as Vice President of Sales for North America. In his new role, in addition to North America, his management responsibilities will also include equipment and automation sales in South America. He has a bachelor’s degree in business from Baylor University and both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of Texas, Arlington. Childs is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Texas and based in Dallas where he lives with his wife and two children.
Also, as part of this organizational change, Darrell Haar, who previously held responsibility for South American sales, has transitioned to the role of Executive Vice President of Sales (EVP), retaining oversight of the China and India markets. Haar, who has been a leader in the HawkeyePedershaab sales organization for nearly 30 years, will be focusing on key sales opportunities and accounts on a global basis.
