The German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) has reported that a reversal of the trend in the construction sector is on its way at the start of the year. The crisis in residential construction is expected to end in 2026. Although the current situation still appears to be critical, Brüninghoff Group is experiencing it differently – also in the residential construction sector.

One reason for this could be because of the way the corporate group has positioned itself strategically by undertaking a range of activities which leads to synergic effects. The other reason might be because of its clear commitment to the field of serial, modular and systemic construction. This not only ensures short construction times and planning reliability, it also gives investors and clients peace of mind – one of the reasons why several framework contracts exist with residential housing development associations. The prefabricated components not only have a standardised systemic design, they also embody environmental awareness. Timber-concrete composite ceilings are an example of this. By using less concrete, they epitomise a combination of environmental awareness and a reduced CO2 footprint. Brüninghoff has been developing the established hybrid elements with new connectors and an innovative groove so that when the initial phase of use ends, they can be introduced into a second lifecycle. This means they are removable and therefore recyclable. This factor is becoming increasingly important and also demonstrates the enormous interest in sustainable solutions for housing construction – one of the main preoccupations of Brüninghoff at BAU 2025. Furthermore, the positive expectations of the movers and shakers in the construction industry were clearly evident. We can only hope that the trend reversal that Brüninghoff is already sensing at the moment will spread across the entire industry within the year.
