Anniversary edition of the IAB-Tage rethinks concrete

Exploding construction material prices, scarcity of building materials, shortage of skilled labor and high inflation – the uncertain situation worldwide makes an accurate economic forecast for the construction industry in 2024 difficult. Building with concrete is undergoing a change, the same as in all other building technologies. Sustainable concepts and, most importantly, resource-conserving handling of raw and construction materials are coming increasingly to the fore.

IAB invites to the 30th edition of the IAB Days “Concrete” on 13-14 November

“In many areas, concrete as construction material remains without alternative,” explains IAB Director Robert Fetter. However, for the future of the concrete industry, the reduction of climate-damaging carbon dioxide during production is urgently required. For this reason, the area of sustainable production of cement, if possible, without CO2 emission, will be an important aspect of this two-day technical event.

The topic areas on approaches toward a successful circular economy in the construction industry will also take account of environmental issues. In addition to presentation of new possibilities of plant engineering, current developments in the precast concrete industry will also be reflected in the wide-ranging conference program.

In 18 lectures, selected experts from science and economics will present approaches and solutions for being well-equipped to face the current challenges in the construction industry. The two-day technical event on 13 and 14 November in Weimar, offers, as usual, sufficient time for discussion, exchange and conversation. Not least, the IAB invites once again to a get-together during the first evening, with the possibility of taking a tour of the Institute grounds. Visitors will most probably be especially interested in the pilot plant for flash calcination that was put into operation this year.

The program will be rounded off by a technical exhibition that accompanies the conference – in which companies of construction material, construction machinery and concrete sectors of industry will present their products and services. Again this year, BFT international will be represented with an exhibition stand onsite.
