The future of building materials in research and practice
From September 23 to 26, 2009, experts of building materials coming from all over the world met for the 17th time on the occasion of the International Conference on Building Materials “ibausil” held in Weimar/Germany. University Professor Dr. Ing. habil. Jochen Stark was chairman of the conference committee until 2009 and together with his team of the F.A. Finger-Institute for Building Materials Science of the Bauhaus University Weimar he had developed the conference to a permanent institution for the building materials industry. On this year‘s conference, the successor and new director of the institute, Dr. Horst-Michael Ludwig, was introduced.
This year, the organizers were able to welcome about 750 scientists and actively working engineers, coming from more than 40 countries, for an intensive exchange of views on three days in September. In more than 300 technical presentations the participants learnt about the latest findings, such as, for example, the again and again current issues of durability of concrete and especially of the alkali-silica reaction. The conference was accompanied by an exhibition of posters.
