Exceptional hollow beam
The Dutch company Spanbeton of Koudekerk aan den Rijn has developed an exceptional hollow beam for the realization of the longest passage in the Netherlands. The PiQ (pieku) beam has two „wings“, according to the idea of Kees Quartel, serving to place the beams in an optimum way. Hendriks precon located in Veenendaal got the order for the production of two formwork units for this innovation in the field of concrete elements.
The Coen Tunnel is the connection between the regions in the north and south of the North Sea Canal. At present here are long traffic congestions at both sides every day especially during peak hours in the morning and in the evening. There is heavy traffic at all bank connections. With the construction of the highway Westrandweg in combination with the second Coen Tunnel the northern part of the Randstad conurbation will be more accessible.
