2012 Precast Show Reveals Cautious Optimism

Attendance at The Precast Show, held March 1-3 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., showed that precast concrete manufacturers and industry suppliers are feeling more optimistic than in recent years.

The organizers the National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA), along with the American Concrete Pipe Association, Cast Stone Institute, Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute and the National Concrete Masonry Association, saw attendance reach its highest levels since 2008.

Trade show floor traffic spiked significantly above last year, with an official attendance of 3,692. In addition to the 58,900 net square foot show floor, NPCA held committee meetings, special events, awards presentations, and education that also registered its highest numbers since 2008, with attendance topping 1,000.

Slow upward trend
“Speaking with our exhibitors and members, it’s clear that there’s a sense of guarded optimism in the air,” said Ty Gable, President of NPCA. “I think the feeling is reflected by this year’s attendance, as many are expecting the slow upward trend we’ve been seeing lately to continue.”

“There are still a number of threats to our industry that could stall or reverse this momentum,” Gable said, “but for now we’re pleased to see positive movement and the show will continue to reflect the industry by growing more robust each year.”

The Precast Show 2013 will take place in Indianapolis, Jan. 11-13 at the IndianaConvention Center. For additional coverage of The Precast Show 2012 and ongoing updates for The Precast Show 2013, visit www.theprecastshow.org
