New colors

This month, as for every one of our twelve issues published each year, BFT focuses on a special main topic. This time it is “Concrete and color”. Beginning on page 22, you will find a range of articles dealing with this subject: powder, granules, and liquids. Volker Würschum, of Würschum GmbH, in Germany, discusses possibilities for dosing color pigments in concrete. Why is cement gray? Dr. Peter Boos of HeidelbergCement examines this question. In the project report on the Roca Gallery designed by the star architect Zaha Hadid, color and shapes play a special role.

Our scientific article once again deals with the always interesting subject of concrete technology. Professor Harald Garrecht and his team are researching to find the optimal mix design for self-compacting high-perfor-mance concrete. In addition, you will as accustomed find articles on numerous other interesting subjects and information in this issue. Leaf through the pages and see for yourself. 

A new color shade will also be added to the editorial office of BFT INTERNATIONAL. As many of you already know, I will in future turn to a new field of challenges. As a result, this issue is for me personally my last issue as editor-in-chief of BFT. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank all co-workers, experts from science, industry and associations and the like that I had the pleasure to get to know over the past years. I would also like to thank all our readers for their wonderful collaboration and for the trust they have shown me. Working with you has been very rewarding. I wish you and the BFT editorial office continued success.
