Association celebrates milestones of the last 20 years
On 15 and 16 November 2017, the German Betonverband Straße, Landschaft, Garten e. V. (SLG; Association of Concrete Producers for Roads, Landscaping and Gardens) celebrated its 20th anniversary, full of confidence and well-prepared for the future. Members of the Management and Executive Boards welcomed about 70 representatives of ordinary and extraordinary members, as well as guests, to the combined general meeting of members and anniversary event held in Mainz.
The solid membership growth seen over the past 15 years alone puts the association in a position to be confident regarding its future since the numbers of both ordinary and extraordinary members have increased continuously. SLG currently has 40 ordinary members (i.e. concrete producers) and 25 extraordinary members from the supplier industry.
Intriguing review
To set the course toward its future, the growing association has expanded its head office team currently composed of Managing Director Dipl.-Ing. Dietmar U-lonska and Bauassessorin Dipl.-Ing. Alice Becke by new employees Christina Ulrich, who has been Assistant to the Managing Director since March 2017, and Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Michael Fuchs, who joined SLG in a consultant role in September 2017 (see BFT International 01/2018, p. 9).
After the general meeting of members held on Wednesday afternoon, the association invited its members, guests and special guests to a champagne reception and dinner. On this occasion, Managing Director Dietmar Ulonska embarked on an intriguing journey through the 20 years of SLG history, referring to many well-known names. In support of his presentation, Ulonska showed a video produced in-house. He recalled the establishment of the association in 1997 and its renaming to Betonverband Straße, Landschaft, Garten e. V. (SLG) in 2004. According to him, its core aim remains to promote the high-quality installation of block pavements using concrete products. SLG representatives have been advocating this goal in many organizations.
Visit to ZDF
On the second day of the event, SLG members and guests visited the premises of the German TV network ZDF in Mainz-Ler-chenberg.
The next general meeting of members is scheduled for 15 November 2018. The exact time and venue will be communicated in due course.
