Committee Chair: Breitenbücher follows Schnell

At the last general meeting in September 2017, Prof. Rolf Breitenbücher was elected Chairman of the German Committee for Reinforced Concrete. He takes over from Prof. Jürgen Schnell, who had held the Chair from March 2012. Breitenbücher studied construction engineering at the Munich Technical University and obtained a doctorate in 1989. Career stations followed at the Philipp Holzmann construction group. Since 2003, Breitenbücher is University Professor at the Chair for Materials Science at Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany.

 

Extensive experience

Breitenbücher brings many of experience in standardization on a national and European level to the Committee. In his words of thanks to the retiring Chairman, Breitenbücher emphasized the special contributions of Prof. Jürgen Schnell to the DafStb, with special reference to the fusion of the research colloquia and the reports of the panels to the DAfStb on the new event concept for the annual public conference with research colloquia. Schnell was also very successful in recruiting new legal members.
