Concrete Technology Prize awarded
Dyckerhoff GmbH has awarded the Dyckerhoff Concrete Technology Prize for the third time. With this prize, students of universities of applied sciences in the German State of Hesse are distinguished for outstanding degree theses on concrete technology. This year’s winners came from Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences. Both winners were able to successfully implement the complex problem statements in practice.
With this prize, Dyckerhoff would like to motivate students of Hessian universities of applied sciences in departments of construction engineering for more involvement in cement and concrete technology. The jury decided to divide the prize this year and to award two first prizes.
Well-educated concrete technologists indispensable
Carina Schneider wrote her bachelor’s thesis with the title ”Concrete structures impervious to water with fresh-concrete composite film as bonding system – composite action in the presence of moisture that infiltrates behind walls” at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences.
Christian Hartmann titled his master’s thesis “Development of a universal test stand for automated exposure to media from mineral construction sites.” The thesis was developed in the Department of Architecture and Construction Engineering at the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences.
Norbert Schultz, Head of the Business Unit Cement Germany/Luxembourg and Paul Vogel, Head of the Sales Area Silo Cement Southeast, and initiator of the prize, presented the awards. The prize is intended to motivate regional universities of applied sciences to strengthen their research in that field.
