Prof. Hakim S. AbdelgaderHakim S. Abdelgader is University Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering at University of Tripoli, Tripoli, Libya. Areas of his research interest include: pre-placed aggregate concrete; self-compacting concrete; concrete with recycled materials; underwater concreting; grouting; concrete casing in fabric forms. He has authored or co-authored over 60 professional technical papers and reports. He is an associate member and voting member of American Concrete Institute (ACI) Committees 221, 237, 304, 444, 555 and 706. Prof. Mark WestMark West is Visiting Professor of Architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA, USA. He is also Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Architecture & Civil Engineering at the University of Bath, United Kingdom, and Professor of Architecture at MEF University in Istanbul, Turkey. His current research projects are in two areas: the design and production of precast, fabric-formed, compression vault and shell panels; and the design of the first fabric-formed building. Prof. Jarosław Górski  Jarosław Górski is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Gdańsk University of Technology and the State University of Applied Sciences in Elbląg, Poland. He was Assistant Professor at Ruhr Universität Bochum, Germany, from 2001 to 2004. His scientific fields are: stochastic mechanics, nonlinear mechanics, concrete constitutive models. He is author and co-author of over 100 technical papers and reports. Throughout his university work he has been active in the organization and chairing of a number of International Conferences. Fabric formwork can be used in both cast-in-place and precast applications. It offers several advantages over conventional formwork technology and provides opportunities for innovations in architectural and structural concrete members.

There are two reasons for an increasing, widespread application of fabric formwork. Firstly, it guarantees an improvement in the economy and durability of concrete structures. Secondly, it is flexible for the three-dimensional shaping of beams, columns and walls, limited only by the architect‘s vision.
