Field 3D acquired from SVS Innovations

Tekla takes over the business segment construction software as well as the Field 3D technology of SVS Innovations, thus extending its portfolio of Building Information Modeling for mobile operating systems.

Field 3D is an easy-to-use 3D software application for the collaboration of BIM via mobile devices. The software gives all parties involved in a building project access to the entire 3D modeling information of a building through smart phones and tables. Field 3D is able to display 3D models independent of their size on mobile devices with various platforms. For this purpose, the application makes use of an open concept for BIM. It supports IFC as well as other file formats and is thus compatible with a wide selection of modeling applications.

BIM in the design office and at the construction site

„It is a main concern of Tekla to establish BIM beyond the design office also at the construction site. The Field 3D technology focusing on mobile operating system is an important module for this objective,“ comments Risto Räty, Executive Vice President at Tekla Corporation and General Manager of Trimble Buildings Structures Division. „This takeover strengthens our portfolio of groundbreaking BIM technology in terms of mobile and flexible usage.“

„Field 3D has become part of a comprehensive range of BIM tools offered. We are convinced that we took the right path with regard to our customers. In conjunction with the BIM applications of Tekla used all over the world, we are able to provide access to Field 3D to a large user group rapidly. The takeover proves how valuable our mobile 3D platform is for the construction industry. In this regard, we can facilitate the breakthrough of this innovative technology in other industries,“ says Antti Nurminen, CEO of SVS Innovations.
