Handling Solutions for G.R Wade & Son Limited

Founded in 1990, G.R. Wade & Son Limited is an established haulage company specializing in the transportation, logistics and distribution requirements of goods for the construction industry.

Based in Nottinghamshire, G.R. Wade & Son is a recognized expert in the transportation of building materials for all types of construction projects. The company provides a professional UK wide road haulage and logistics service for some major blue chip companies in the precast concrete industry, which includes companies such as Forterra and FP Mcann.

The FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) accredited company has enjoyed rapid expansion in recent years, investing in top of the range modern trucks and adding to its fleet, which has doubled in size in recent years to 13.

Leading supplier of forklift attachments

To support the company’s rapid growth, assist with productivity and ensure on-site safety, G.R. Wade & Son contacted B&B Attachments to provide them with an attachment to assist in the smooth delivery process of floor beams. Following a full site survey, B&B Attachments the leading supplier of forklift attachments and specialist bespoke material handling solutions, supplied the transport company with a Crane Floor Beam Grab attachment.

The Crane Floor Beam Grab was fitted by Crane link adaptor to an Atlas crane. The attachment has been designed and manufactured by B&B Attachments with optional bag handling lifting hooks and a rubber pad gripper arrangement. It is designed to lift specific sized beams and profiles. The attachment can handle up to five beams at once, at a weight of 195kg per beam.

The beam grab supplied to G.R. Wade and Son Limited has individual ball lock valves fitted, which enables single beams to be clamped and released when required. The universal crane mounting plate enables the attachment to suit various adaptors, and the quick release couplings allow a quick change over to alternative attachments when required.

Significantly increased productivity

Managing director of G.R. Wade & Son Limited, Richard Wade, comments “Our daily objective is to understand the logistic requirements of our customers, then create and apply the relevant service to suit. This Crane Floor Beam Grab from B&B Attachments has not only significantly increased productivity, but it also ensures we are providing our customers with an efficient, safe and controlled environment at the delivery point.”

B&B Attachments is the market leader in the supply and manufacture of forklift truck attachments to this industry. It offers the largest range of products from a single source, providing solutions whatever the material handling requirement.
