Innovation: IBB mineral concrete coating for outdoor use

Synfola has launched the Minpur mineral industrial concrete coating (IBB) for outdoor use. Following tests performed on outdoor objects, including extreme stress tests, the innovative IBB coating was introduced in an architectural magazine. The product will be presented to the expert community during the industry meeting of the 66th BetonTage congress that will take place in Ulm from 21 to 23 June, 2022. According to the manufacturer, the IBB thin-layer system is the only mineral coating system for outdoor use currently on offer in the European market.

The mineral industrial concrete coating (IBB) is suitable for old and new concrete surfaces in indoor and outdoor application. It is hard-wearing, weatherproof and UV-resistant. The latter may not have played a major role in concrete gray. With IBB, however, there are no limits to the color design. In outdoor use, IBB can be applied to concrete elements, cast-in-situ concrete, concrete floors such as terraces or cantilevers, walls, staircases orfaçades. In indoor application, IBB is suitable for use on all prestigious surfaces, for example in exhibition halls, offices, entrance areas, warehouses or underground car parks – it has even proven highly successful on stair treads. The surfaces withstand stresses caused by industrial use. In the residential sector, typical applications include the kitchen and bathroom, as IBB is insensitive to acids and alkalis. IBB is part of the Synfola Minpur product system and is compatible with all Minpur components.

Product facts:

thin-layer system for application on indoor and outdoor concrete surfaces;

seamless and crack-bridging application also in indoor use;

weatherproof, UV-resistant and, like all Minpur products, resistant to acid rain;

suitable for use on surfaces with textures of varying coarseness;

quick availability: surfaces can be used and subjected to stresses as early as 3 days after completion

high slip resistance – also suitable for wet rooms or swimming pools;

easy-to-clean maintenance

IBB is breaking new ground in two respects: the virtually unlimited color designs open up new possibilities for architects when visualizing interior and exterior concrete surfaces. According to Synfola, IBB is the first mineral concrete coating launched in the European market that is also suitable for outdoor application due to its hard-wearing structure and resistance to weather and UV radiation. As a result, IBB has the potential to contribute to upgrading both existing and new industrial and residential buildings.
