Investment decision: new Deltabeam factory in Lithuania
Peikko Group has made an investment decision to build a new Deltabeam factory in Kaunas, Lithuania. The new factory will be built next to Peikko’s existing Kaunas factory. The investment exceeds 9 million euros and comprises the lot, the new factory building as well as new production lines and machinery. The size of the factory will be 6,000 m² with new planned production capacity of 250 beams per week.
Peikko has currently the highest Deltabeam order backlog in its history. To temporarily boost capacity, Peikko started a small-scale beam manufacturing operation in the current Kaunas factory. The new Kaunas factory ramp-up will increase Peikko’s European Deltabeam capacity by over 30 %.
“The new factory in Lithuania will bring us the required capacity increase in the long term. Peikko already has a well-functioning production unit in Kaunas, so building the new factory there was an easy decision. In terms of logistics, Lithuania is perfectly located to effectively serve our current Deltabeam main markets: the areas around the Baltic Sea,” states Topi Paananen, CEO of Peikko Group Corporation.
The building permits have been granted and the construction work of the new factory building will commence in autumn 2016. The factory will become operational during the third quarter of 2017. In addition to hiring new production staff for the new factory, Peikko will add project management and 3D modeling resources in Lithuania to meet the high Deltabeam demand.
