New exhibitor and visitor record registered

From April 15 to 21, more than 530,000 visitors came from over 200 countries to the Messe München exhibition center. With top numbers in terms of exhibitors and exhibition space, the leading trade fair for the international construction industry Bauma also set a new record for visitor numbers. „This is very good for our industry in these turbulent times and it will certainly give it fresh impetus,“ says Johann Sailer, Chairman of Fachverband Bau- und Baustoffmaschinen im Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau (VDMA - German Engineering Federation‘s Association for Construction Equipment and Building Material Machinery) and President of the Committee for the European Construction Equipment Industry (CECE).

Share of international visitors higher than ever

Klaus Dittrich, Chairman of the Management Board of Messe München, is more than satisfied: „Our exhibitors were excited about the quality of the visitors and the international scope. Good business has been done here. With more than 200,000 visitors from abroad, the number of international guests was higher than ever before. This year, the response has truly been overwhelming.“

The top ten visitor countries were Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, the Russian Federation, France, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Sweden and Poland. With a high-ranking political delegation and about 800 visitors, Bauma’s partner country, Indonesia, was also strongly represented.

Business transactions everywhere

On a record floor space of 570,000 square meters, overall 3,420 exhibitors - 1,346 national and 2,074 international companies - coming from 57 countries showcased the latest products and innovation of the construction equipment and mining machinery industry - and all this with incredible success, as Stefan Heissler, Member of the Board of Directors of Liebherr-International AG, confirmed: „We can draw a totally positive conclusion after the trade fair. Customers from all over the world visited our booths and we have concluded a large number of contracts. Our expectations were even far exceeded in some product segments.“

Precast concrete industry well positioned

The major part of the supply sector of the precast concrete industry was satisfied too. „For Herrenknecht, Bauma 2013 certainly showed itself from the best side. The trade audience was first class and very global. We were able to communicate our broad-ranging portfolio and our top innovations in tunneling and mining quite purposefully,“ said Dr.-Ing. E. h. Martin Herrenknecht, Chairman of the Board of Management of Herrenknecht. Johannes Weiermair, Managing Director of SBM Mineral Processing, added: „bauma 2013 was an excellent event and a great success for us - on the one hand, because of the world-spanning international scope among the visitors and, on the other, owing to the very high level of contacts.“

With the battery mold system Mobile Battery Mold, a magnet box, a vibration station with magnetic pallet fixing and a modular tilting table for large-scale precast concrete elements, Weckenmann presented several new developments to the trade audience. „We were able to present our product portfolio and latest innovations to a wide audience. The visitors of this year‘s bauma were very international and we made first-class contacts at our exhibition booth. Therefore, bauma 2013 was a great success for us,“ Managing Director, Hermann Weckenmann, summed up the trade fair week.

Bibko presented, among other things, the new residual concrete recycling system Comtec 30, which provides a large capacity and a washing output of up to 30 m³/h due to the large water volume. This concept achieves a closed-loop material cycle, with the components sand and gravel contained in the residues as well as the residual water with cement, sand, fine particles as aggregates and/or as residual water being re-used in concrete production. According to Bibko, apart from the commercial benefit, the operation of such a residual concrete recycling system is also an active contribution to the protection of the environment and the conversation of natural resources.

Trade fair booths of Bauverlag strongly frequented

The trade fair booth of Bauverlag publishing house in halls B1 and B4 with BFT International and other trade journals attracted a large number of visitors too. „We would hardly have been able to meet the large number of contact interests and requests with our booth staff, primarily at peak times, without the assistance and support of the colleagues from the editorial offices and advertising departments,“ expressed Michael Osterkamp, Head of Marketing, his thanks. „We could acquire some new subscribers and the Bauma edition of BFT International had to be reordered several times owing to the high demand.“

Construction machinery trade fair of Messe München International

The leading position of the world‘s most important trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment is undoubted. Frank W. Reschke, General Sales Manager and Member of the Management of Masa GmbH also drew a positive conclusion: „Our already high expectations even have been exceeded. Bauma is top-ranking by far and there is no alternative for us as it is the number one.“ The next Bauma will take place in Munich from April 11 to 17, 2016.

In addition to the world‘s leading trade fair Bauma, Messe München International has comprehensive experience in the organization of other international trade shows for the construction machinery industry. Apart from the brand events of Bauma China in Shanghai and Bauma Africa in Johannesburg and at bC India together with the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), Messe München is also acting abroad as cooperation partner via its subsidiary company IMAG.
