Micro-reinforced precast members

Potentials of an almost forgotten construction method

The dimensions of typical precast beams can be reduced significantly thanks to the use of high-performance and ultra-high-performance concrete. As a result, the concrete cover of beams having a more distinct profile with webs measuring only a few centimeters may be insufficient for using conventional reinforcing steel. In such cases, the alternative of integrating a multi-layer micro-reinforcement composed of welded stainless-steel wire mesh in diameters from 0.5 to 2.0 mm and mesh sizes between 10 and 50 mm is associated with many benefits.
