Production of concrete pipes in Zimbabwe
In 2010, Hume Pipe Co. Ltd. in Harare had come to a cross road. The market demand for concrete pipes in Zimbabwe was increasing and the production capacity at their two plants in Harare and Bulawayo was fully booked.
Hume Pipe Co. Ltd. traveled around the world to study different pipe production methods, and in 2011 they decided to invest in a complete new pipe factory based on VIHY production technology for the manufacture of regular concrete pipes as well as HDPE-lined concrete pipes.
The plant was commissioned during 2012-2013, and Hume Pipe Co. Ltd. is now able to offer new and state-of-the-art concrete pipes to the Zimbabwean market.
Plant description
HawkeyePedershaab’s initial scope of supply included the double station VIHY Multicast SCC 250, mold equipment for 450-2,300 mm diameter pipes, equipment for lining the pipes with HDPE sheets, pipe handling equipment, an automatic concrete batching and mixing plant, cage welding machinery and concrete laboratory equipment.
