Software provider uses BIM for headquarters construction
Sofistik AG celebrated its 30-year company anniversary with groundbreaking for the new office building in Nuremberg. The new building will be completely planned and implemented by means of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and construction software of Sofistik.
Employees, neighbors, the previous owner of the property, customers, and business partners were invited to attend the symbolic groundbreaking. In addition to the building owner Sofistik and many of the employees, representatives of the construction company Wolff & Müller, the architectural firm Wabe-Plan, the structural engineering firm Boll und Partner, and the building technology specialist gm planen+beraten attended the ceremony.
The event was opened by four short presentations on the history and success of Sofistik, the advantages of BIM technology for the construction industry, the new office building project, and important role of Sofistik as employer and hidden champion of the region. Afterwards, the attendees had an opportunity to take a virtual tour and get a more detailed look at the new building by using a virtual reality headset.
„We are very pleased to be able to introduce our new building on the occasion of the 30-year company anniversary and to celebrate the groundbreaking at the construction site,“ says Thomas Fink, chairman of the management board of Sofistik AG. „Of course, we are going to use BIM to implement the project because Sofistik is the pioneer of Building Information Modeling in Germany, and we are certainly convinced of the advantages of using the method. I would like to express my gratitude to our employees, who have driven the company forward and to our partners, who are out there using BIM in practice.”
