Successful first year for Ratec Asia
Ratec Asia was founded one year ago as a joint venture with a local planning and construction company in Singapore. In addition to the locations in Hockenheim, Barcelona and Clearwater, Florida, USA, it is the company’s first own branch in Asia. From the base in Singapore, development of the important Asian market is being pursued. Much has happened to boost the expansion in Asia since the opening of the company’s own showroom in May 2017, in which the Ratec Group’s diverse range of products for the precast concrete industry is neatly presented.
“Last year, we were able to further increase our share of international sales from 75 to 87%. On top of the growth seen in our neighbouring European countries, it was mainly Asia that contributed to this growth, thus impressively confirming the decision taken some time ago to focus on this region”, says Jörg Reymann, Managing Director of the Ratec/Reymann Group.
Formwork system meets specific requirements
Ratec Asia managed to win and execute many customer projects already in the first year. A flexible and simple magnetic formwork system was developed for a construction company based in Singapore. The system allows precast components that meet the specific requirements for prefabricated components in Asia, such as protruding reinforcement and the partially complex geometry, to be fabricated directly at the construction site. It was possible to use the same equipment for follow-up projects, which makes this a very cost-effective investment. The Innoland Development Corporation in the Philippines was also impressed by the solution and is using it for prefabrication of their components directly at the construction site. In addition to formwork solutions, planning and consulting services are also increasingly in demand. Another customer in the Philippines was supported in the development of a concept that allowed them to begin precast production with a manageable investment.
The basis for this success is a committed team of employees with many years of experience in the construction and precast concrete industry in Asia. This guarantees application and cost optimized solutions that consider specific regional requirements. This was supported by the presence of Ratec Asia at a range of trade fairs.
