Flexibility and work-life-balance

Dear readers,

From 31.07.2023 I am back again! Our twins were born in April and are keeping my husband and me on our feet ever since. Despite this, or perhaps because of this, I am very pleased to take an active part in BFT once again, after the short baby break.

What makes returning to work much easier is the possibility of mobile working, from which our editor-in-chief Silvio Schade recently also profited in Spain. Regardless of whether this benefit is used to work abroad or to better reconcile family and work at any location, it means in every case more flexibility, a better work-life-balance and accordingly increased motivation.

You can therefore look forward to an exciting issue 2023 08. I would like to especially recommend the contributions “A basic element as punching shear and bond reinforcement for all semi-precast floor slabs with in-situ concrete topping of various heights” (p. 24 ff), “Optimum humidity for the production of concrete elements” (p. 38 ff) and „IAB Weimar: Sustainable construction research for the future“ (p. 46 ff).
