From concept to innovation: Tebea Thermal Break Element introduced

Peikko launched the Tebea Thermal Break Element at the BAU 2025, the result of two and a half years of dedicated product development. This innovative solution solves critical thermal and safety problems in modern building construction.

The new product builds on Peikko’s expertise in balcony connections, following successful products including Sladex, PS and Ebea Balcony Connectors. According to Product Manager Seref Diler, the main functions of thermal break elements are to prevent moisture and minimize thermal heat flow, with a particular focus on markets with advanced thermal requirements.

Why choose Tebea – the Difference

Technical specifications, design, and advantages of the Tebea Thermal Break Element:

Fixed thickness (120 mm) for consistent performance;

Modular design featuring stone wool insulation;

Improved thermal efficiency

Excellent fire-resistant properties;

Eliminates the need for additional fire plates.

Beyond thermal efficiency: safety and fire protection

The choice of stone wool as an insulation material was deliberate. This non-combustible material has exceptional thermal properties, making it an effective fire barrier for building façades. Being highly energy efficient and safe, it meets two critical aspects of building design.

The product has already secured European Technical Assessment (ETA) approval and CE certification, proof of its technical credibility and compliance with rigorous European standards. Furthermore, Tebea is Passive House certified. Components certified for Passive Houses are designed to meet high requirements to ensure minimal energy loss and maximum energy efficiency.

A comprehensive solution: seamless integration with existing systems

Tebea stands out for its seamless integration with Peikko’s existing product range. It can be easily connected to Deltabeam, Atlant Composite Columns, and Modix Rebar Couplers, providing a comprehensive system solution for building frames. This integration offers significant advantages in project management and construction efficiency.

The evolving urban landscape: balconies in modern architecture

Looking beyond the immediate technical specifications, Diler views the product in a broader context of urban development. With increasing urbanization and changing living spaces, balconies are becoming more than mere architectural elements. They represent valuable outdoor connections in modern living environments.

Peikko’s Tebea Thermal Break Element is a significant step forward in building technology, meeting the increasingly complex demands of modern construction. By combining thermal efficiency, safety, and ease of installation, it is a sophisticated solution for architects, engineers, and builders across Europe.

The Tebea Thermal Break Element will first be available in Germany starting from March 2025 to be followed by launches in other European countries.
