Innovation: Patented edge formwork and fall protection

GSS NV – the Belgian manufacturer based in Mol – offers solutions that make the casting of floors on construction sites faster, easier and safer. The Gilbert Steel Solutions company, which was founded by Gilbert Cuypers and his wife in 2009, developed, among other things, the patented solutions GSS-Profile and GSS-Safe. By the use of these solutions only 1/10 of time is required compared to conventional methods.

In the course of the German market introduction at the end of 2023, the products had been further developed and the product portfolio was completed for the D/A/CH countries. The new and further developed solutions represent a system consisting of formwork, mounting bracket and safety post.

1. GSS Safe 3001 safety post (product development 31/1/2024)

The galvanized safety post fits into all GSS fastenings, whether mounted on a profile, stirrup, beam support, box, permanent concrete base or floor support. The safety post can be mounted and removed by a simple turning motion. Wood boards can be inserted into the adjustable stirrups so as to complete the fall protection. Since 2024, it is also possible to use Peri anti-fall protection barrier instead of boards.

2. GSS Bracket 3003O

This is a metal bracket especially developed for the German market for vertically perforated bricks, it fits into GSS-Profile/permanent edge formwork and serves the fastening of building blocks. Thanks to the various fold seams, the small plate can be used on several shapes and sizes of building blocks (e.g., Poroton vertically perforated bricks being 17.5 cm, 20 cm, 24 cm wide). After casting of concrete and removal of the fall protection system (GSS-Safe safety posts), the galvanized small plate is simply broken off.

Advantage: a cost-effective and fast way of assembly and removal of fall protection at construction sites.

3. GSS Box 3029 & GSS Prefab 6400 fall protection used in prefabricated walls (ideal for manufacturers of precast concrete components)

The GSS box is used to install the GSS safety system into prefabricated walls. After placing of the prefabricated wall elements, the small plates at the top and bottom are unfolded. The safety post can be inserted now without any problems. After removing the safety post, the small plates at the top and bottom can be folded back again. GSS-Prefab 6400 for permanent formwork with a height of 16-40 cm works in a similar way. Permanent steel formwork, installed in prefabricated beams or wall elements, with integrated fall protection.
