Tradition or innovation? Both!

BFT International this year celebrates its 90th birthday. For 90 years it has been the recognized trade journal for manufacturers of concrete products and precast elements, as well as for companies active in precast construction. In other words: it is a genuine traditional trade magazine. But wait! Tradition – doesn’t that mean stagnation, inflexibility and “That’s how we’ve always done it?”

Yet, BFT International is always in close touch with future-related topics. Our team is fresh and flexible and we are open to innovations. But are tradition and innovation really opponents? Of course not. They can even form extremely strong syntheses. Tradition provides stability and security, a foundation, and without willingness to change, we would sooner or later – in the media world, rather sooner – fall behind. Innovation without tradition, in contrast, can quickly become superficial. Shedding the old merely for the sake of the new consumes a great deal of energy and is usually of little benefit. The relationship between preserving and changing must be carefully balanced, and decisions in the one or other direction must be content-related.

Accordingly, BFT International has been reporting for 90 years. Around 2,000 of you, dear readers, by now receive their trade magazine digitally as E-Paper. ”Beton Bauteile 2024” is already the 72nd volume of our popular yearbook, much praised in social media, where we are pleased to record a rapidly growing community. These are just a few examples for why BFT definitely stands for both: for tradition and for innovation.
