Turn of an era in the sphere of bauma
The much-trumpeted turn of an era, dear readers, doesn’t stop even at the world’s largest trade fair – the 33rd bauma, having initially been postponed, as you know, from April to October 2022. At that time, the Covid endemic was largely responsible for the postponement, but since then the war in Ukraine, the rise in the cost of energy and raw materials, delivery bottlenecks worldwide, etc., are just a few of the new serious problems added to longstanding predicaments. What now is the best way to deal with these problems? Looking, for example, at the factual, prosaic survey results on how satisfied the German population is with the work and the course of the German Government, sharp differences come to light when comparing survey results from the west of Germany to those from the east of the country. In the precast concrete sector, too, criticism in this regard is beginning to emerge and discussions are becoming more emotional, as apparent from the social media activities of some plant engineering firms and suppliers.
Nevertheless, our mutual positive anticipation of bauma should outweigh negative aspects. More than 3,000 exhibitors from 58 countries expect a great number of visitors from all over the world on an exhibition area of 614,000 m2. The International Innovation Prize will be awarded for the 13th time at bauma. I look forward to many exciting discussions and your opinions on the major issues of our time - for example, in letters to the editor - we’ll meet in Munich.
