Concrete Manhole Bases
Precast producers are using industrial robots to an
increasing extent. In most cases, these robots perform handling tasks. The supplier Prinzing, located in Blau-
beuren, Germany, has developed a process in which an industrial robot directly produces monolithic manhole bases in any desired channel and connection layout (for a comprehensive description of the Primuss process see BFT 10/09).
At the 54th BetonTage congress in Ulm, Prinzing received the 2010 Innovation Prize for its new Primuss technology. At this year’s bauma trade show, the company presented the Primuss robot at work. According to Prinzing, the positive feedback had been so significant that eight Primuss systems were sold in five countries within an extremely short period after the exhibition.
This new technology enhances the competitiveness of the precast industry even further, especially when comparing concrete with other materials. This process proves yet again that concrete can be molded in an extremely...
