Plane-parallel compression areas are a crucial precondition for precisely carried out compressive strength tests of high-strength concrete and high-performance concrete as well as aggregate and rock samples. The standards EN 12390-3 and EN 12504-1 require that the dimensions of test specimens have to comply with the specifications stipulated in EN 12390-1 as far as the planeness achieved by grinding the final surfaces is concerned.
