Fly ash of a somewhat different kind

Dear Reader,

We – and in particular the concrete technologists among us – are very familiar, both with the concept fly ash and with the material of the same name. In April of 2010, a new definition of flying ash has now forced previously unknown and unforeseeable restrictions on us.  

That the ban on flights in Europe coincided with the world’s largest construction fair was especially unfortunate for the concrete and precast concrete industry. The exhibitors who had come to bauma, whose turnover depends to a large extent on export, recorded a decrease in visitors of up to 30 %.
