Concrete study trip leads to South Tyrol

After the study trip to South Tyrol in 2020 had to be cancelled due to the Corona pandemic, the Vocational Training Institute for Manufacturers for the Concrete and Precast Industry (BBF) now, in a second attempt, is planning this year’s trip – on a rotational basis – for 22 to 26 May 2022. Co-organizer is the Association of former Ulm Master Craftsmen.

Among other topics on the agenda is a plant tour of Progress AG, Brixen, regional market leader in production of precast elements and erection of projects in precast construction, and of Progress Maschinen & Automation AG. This company has developed machines and equipment for processing reinforcing steel. A visit to the family business Betonform GmbH has been planned. In the plant in Gais, apart from processing orders for special productions, four production lines are manufactured and sold: precast components for road and garden design, retaining walls, embankment, avalanche and noise protection elements as well as transformer stations.

Look beyond the fringes of concrete

In addition, a tour of the gravel plant and the laboratory of the Beton Eisack company group, as well as of the IBI competence center in Vahrn is on the agenda. The IBI has specialized in alpine construction and supports companies for projects in the construction, infrastructure and environmental sectors. The family business Schönthaler OHG, Eyrs, provides glimpses into its daily production routines. It is one of the leading construction-materials traders and cast stone manufacturers in South Tyrol and has – in addition to concrete paving blocks – products such as concrete traffic barriers, floor systems and cellar wells in its portfolio. The tour of the Laaser marble industry provides a look beyond the fringes of concrete. The cultural program offers the opportunity to get to know the country and its people better.
