German Government
confers distinction on
concrete recycling
The initiative to promote innovations “Germany – Land of Ideas,” established by the Federal Government of Germany and the National Association of German Industries (BDI), has distinguished the research project “Recycling of used concrete” of the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics (IBP). The project is the federal winner in the category of science.
The scientists from Holzkirchen use electronic fragmentation to separate concrete into the constituents of cement, water and aggregate.
Some 1,000 companies, associations and research institutes competed this year in the initiative “Germany – Land of Ideas.” The jury chose 100 winners from the categories economy culture, science, environment, and society. One federal winner was chosen from among every category.
