Innov.: System for creating precast concrete ceilings
Concrete ceilings will deform over time due to their own weight and payload. Weckenmann announced a new system, which creates a targeted camber on concrete ceiling elements. The procedure leads to two different results. Firstly, the deflection of the ceiling is reduced as well as the amount of needed material. Secondly, a flat soffit without a vertical offset is created. The latter is possible since the elements get placed horizontally and with no deflection whatsoever. The camber is placed in a predefined radius. Therefore, the camber is chosen to approach the deformation caused by the load case. To avoid the need of specific formwork tables with preinstalled formwork superelevation, the precast ceilings are formed, concreted, reinforced and compacted on flat pallets. Subsequently, the pallets arrive in the curing chamber where they get bent by adjusting the support rollers. The concrete assumes its shape and cures. After achieving its final strength, the pallets’ superelevation will be undone, and the ceiling elements will be taken off the pallet.
