Riese Electronic has developed an ultrasonic apparatus for precisely determining setting time tE of concrete and cement. The principle of action for determining the setting time is as follows: an ultrasonic sensor sends a measuring signal against a concrete cube; the reflected signal changes, depending on the hydration of the concrete. The advantage of this is that the results are objective and reproducible.
