Exact determination of the setting point
So far, the so-called kneading-bag test was used in order to determine the setting point tE of concrete. For this purpose, the worker fills a small amount of concrete into a plastic bag and checks when pressing the concrete with the thumb is no more possible using different time intervals. This method, however, is quite subjective and unreliable with the result that a 25% span has to be added on top of the time determined according to DIN 18218. Thanks to the Beus ultrasonic device, it is now possible to determine the accurate setting point.
