The Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro got an entirely new profile for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. It is now able to seat about 75,000 spectators at a built-up area of 203,000 m².
The Maracanã Stadium in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, officially called Estádio Jornalista Mário Filho, was built to host the 1950 FIFA World Cup and got into global soccer history, in particular, due to the fact that it had an enormous capacity covering almost 200,000 spectators. Now, the stadium will again play an important role in Brazil in 2014: Hosting a total of seven games, here most of the matches will be played, among others, the final on July 13th.
