In Switzerland, Swiss Block AG - with its innovative concrete block system - has been on a road to success for ten years and with more than 60,000 pre-cast modules produced is a market leader. Swiss Block, as the only supplier in this segment, according to its own statement, offers its manufacturers and end customers a comprehensive certified system solution. The offer ranges from project planning to support in production, with formwork system made available free of charge, to marketing and sales promotion activities.

Concrete with a system

SwissBlock is a modular concrete block, manufactured with standardized fresh concrete or high-quality recycled concrete, that explicitly addresses the precast industry. The high-quality precast component is cast in a single pour and is based on the applicable construction product standards. Weight and structural-engineering characteristic are dimensioned for state-of-the-art technical applications and enable fast and nonetheless safe use. SwissBlock pre-cast modules are not only distinctly different from the familiar “Lego blocks” in terms of quality, but also with regard to their application possibilities. Its great effectiveness for use makes SwissBlock unique and the most flexible modular concrete block system in the precast industry.

Wide range of application

No special lifting equipment is needed for transport and processing. The purpose-developed and tested SwissLoop anchor system is a structural-engineering-defined connection point and is an integrated part of every SwissBlock. Geometry and dimension of the SwissLoop are designed for use with conventional lifting gear, belts, chains or wire cable slings. The innovative SwissLoop high-performance anchors guarantee reliable and safe use, as well as simple mobile application.

In addition to its function as attachment point, the SwissLoop high-performance anchors serve as connection point for the SwissBlock adaptors and enable additional application possibilities for the pre-cast module. With the SwissBlock adaptors, the intrinsic weight of the concrete blocks is simply and quickly activated. Rectangular timbers, scaffolding tubes, aluminum truss systems, flagpoles, information boards and traffic signs can in this way be force-locked to the pre-cast modules. Plug-in and screw connections guarantee secure, convenient and time-saving use without dowels.

Another product innovation is the modular BaseX ground support system that securely and flexibly stabilizes elements such as cable crossovers in the plant, mobile construction-site and street-lighting masts as well as solar installations and energy towers lighting. The new TEC-SwissBlock with vertical openings enables connection of the blocks with drawbars, which rounds out the product portfolio.

Extensive manufacturer network

In Switzerland, an extensive network with currently 30 regional partners reliably ensures the availability of the SwissBlock pre-cast modules. This shortens transport routes and ensures optimal use of locally available resources. The pre-cast modules are not only available for purchase, but also for hire. Since 2021, the Swiss Block AG also has a German subsidiary and consequently promotes expansion by evaluating new partners for manufacture and sales. The objective is also to successfully implement in practice the philosophy of short distances and the use of local resources in Germany and in other countries.
