3D plan: digitally continuous, via automatic quantity determination, data transfer, for digital execution

The workflow for implementing future infrastructure planning in civil engineering can ideally be executed as a continuous theme on the basis of BIM project management. Start and completion of the project are the responsibility of the client, or are performed by the GeoInformationSystem (GIS) – in this case, the community.

The planning office and the construction companies that are integrated into the digital data flow, act in between.

The planning office imports the basic data from the GIS of the community into the planning software, and reviews and supplements the data. Implementation planning is developed as dynamic 3D-planning/BIM planning, and is based on objects, such as positioning and manhole structures, supported by attributes such as pipe dimension. It ensures irrefutable planning that offers better quality, planning and cost effectiveness. It should furthermore be possible to complete an automated bill of quantities from the canal network model.

Owing to an interface problem, this data pathway is currently interrupted between various software solutions.

The tenderer should be able to import the BIM model and the bill of quantities via an interface into the existing calculation software and, in the event of award of project, also be able to use it for preparing the construction site.

Currently, data processing on the part of the construction company is the next step.

During construction, digital data serves to enhance quality and cost-effectiveness. On the one hand, data generated in the course of construction will supplement and consolidate the model and facilitate accounting. On the other hand, evaluated data, in keeping with the BIM process, are again imported, via an interface, into the GIS of the client as basis data for operations.
