Flexibility leads to efficiency
The “STF-Holterman GmbH” precast concrete plant of Xanten (Germany) has achieved a flexible manufacturing structure by the product mix implemented in the production of, for example, large industrial components like prestressed concrete beams as well as staircases and wall panels in sandwich construction.
A disadvantage of versatility is, as a general rule, the fact that the efforts drive up the costs. Here, especially shuttering construction turns out to be very elaborate and expensive. Apart from a well trained staff, technical solutions are necessary to accelerate the erection of the shuttering and to make it flexible. The right mix reduces the costs also in this regard.
