9th Swiss Concrete Forum: Recycled Concrete – a sensible alternative?
Densification of urban spaces as well as increasing removal and reinstatement activities in recent years have until now resulted in a considerable increase of mineral “waste”. Such work in Switzerland produces approx. 13 million tons of demolition material annually. With present state-of-the-art technology, this waste is suitable for the manufacture of recycled concrete, or RC concrete. Relevant standards stipulate that this concrete is to contain at least 25 % concrete or mixed demolition granular material. Extensive supply of recycled concrete is available.
