Parabolic troughs of high-strength concrete for solar power plants

Solar-thermal power plants concentrate incident solar radiation to provide the heat necessary for energy supply from conventional steam turbines. Parabolic trough power plants have until now commercially been the most frequently implemented type of design worldwide. In this application, parabolic troughs in large numbers  are grouped into solar fields. The design principle for the troughs is essentially based on spatial steel truss systems with self-supporting parabolic glass mirrors mounted at isolated points.
